New York, NY & Lublin, Poland – Genpact (NYSE: G), a leader in the globalization of services and technology and a pioneer in managing business processes for companies around the world, today announced the opening of its operations center located in Lublin, Poland. With a population of more than 355,000, Lublin is the largest city in Eastern Poland and is now home to Genpact’s seventh European operating center.
“We are very excited about our expansion into Poland and see this as a crucial step in the ongoing growth of our European delivery capabilities,” said Patrick Cogny, CEO of Genpact Europe. “Lublin’s diverse population offers a unique opportunity to provide a comprehensive suite of services in Polish, Czech, Slovak, and Russian, increasing our overall language capabilities by upwards of 20%. This new facility is a welcome addition to Genpact’s multilingual centers in Romania and Hungary and will strengthen our ability to deliver integrated, pan-European solutions to our clients.”
Genpact’s decision to launch operations in Lublin was due in large part to the area’s cultural make-up, as well as its proximity to several major universities. The city offers a diverse pool of professionals with backgrounds in finance and accounting services and managerial experience, many of whom can serve clients in multiple languages. The facility’s first employees were hired in June 2008 and have undergone extensive training on Genpact’s operating framework and specific client projects they will support.
The inauguration of the facility was marked by a conference on the “Globalization of Services,” the first of its kind ever hosted in Lublin. Adam Wasilewski, the Mayor of Lublin, was a featured speaker at the event, which also included comments and perspectives from Patrick Cogny, Tomasz Maciejak – Genpact’s newly-appointed Lublin site leader, Katarzyna Kepa – Director of Lublin’s Labor Office, Prof. Andrzej Dabrowski – Rector of Marie Curie Sklodowska University, and Prof. Slawomir Nowosad – Vice-Rector of Catholic University of Lublin.
Genpact’s European presence also includes operating centers in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Romania; Budapest, Hungary; Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Madrid and Sevilla, Spain; with its sales and marketing office in London. The company’s worldwide network of over 35 operations centers employs more than 36,000 people in 12 countries.
